#LoveYo-Self

#Loveyo-self

One can sell you all the fitness gear, nutritional supplements, gym memberships, and trainer sessions in the world and still none of them would help you.  Do you want to know why?  It’s you.  You are the reason all of those things will fail.

You are probably saying to yourself, “this chick is an idiot.  She just insulted anyone who reads this.”

Do not worry.  It’s not meant as an insult.  It is, meant to wake you up a little bit.  The reason that you are the point of failure is because all of those other things are tools and if you do not have the skills, mentality, dedication, and discipline to use those tools to your advantage how can you effectively achieve successful long term long lasting results.  Results that create a healthy body that can survive and thrive after a surgery, injury, or even emotional trauma (yes, emotions do take a physical toll on the body).  So #LoveYo-Self..

No one can force you to succeed.  No amount of a trainer or coach standing over you at the gym yelling at you to push one more rep or give you a pat on the back is going to help you succeed.  Matter of fact I may not even help you to succeed as your success depends on your willingness to break the bad habits and start to #LoveYo-Self.  Some habits are harder to shake than others but all are terminable. However…

The change that needs to happen first, is you.  The change that you must make in order to succeed at getting healthy is in your mind and your spirit.
Now, don’t get me wrong.  I am not saying that you have to change you as a person.  No, you are perfect as you are.  What needs to change is the way you think about health and fitness and your body #LoveYo-Self.

Don’t look at it like you are trying to get a beach body or look like that 20 something woman who has never had a baby and spent years working, or 20 something guy that hasn’t spent 20 years slaving away for his family.  Why you may ask? Because you never will. This is the hardest lesson you will have to learn on this journey.  You will never look as good as the 20 year olds do today, and know what?  That is ok, because health and fitness is about how you physically feel and how that feeling affects your overall wellbeing #LoveYo-Self.

Ask yourself, “What one small thing can I change right now that betters my health?”
For some it may be not having that sugar filled cola with lunch, for another it might be skipping the chips with their sandwich, or something as everyday mundane as someone brushing their teeth twice a day instead of once (one of my faults).   Small changes lead to progress over time.  The point is in order to change your health and fitness you need to change yourself.  The first change that we all must make is to learn to love ourselves no matter what so #LoveYo-Self.

Do you have the butt you are looking for, the core or six pack abs, the hour glass figure (very few have it naturally and most need to work for it) that you want to have? Maybe not. Does this mean you will never have it? Nope.  It just means you have a new goal within your health and fitness goals.  Even our organs will heal somewhat.

I myself was a 2 pack a day plus pot smoking asthmatic yet here I am able to do an hour of high intensity cardio without so much as looking at an inhaler. Why, because I made the small changes I needed to make to repair my lungs and my respiratory system.  It started with adding a little cardio and less smoking. With some help eventually, the equation changed to doing more cardio than I was smoking.

By doing that little change, I eventually got to the point where my mind snapped to and was like “hey moron, (yes I talk to myself that way but in a jokingly way) smoking hinders your ability to breathe while exercising.”  When that switch flipped, I threw out the last of my cigarettes and have not looked back since.  Another good example is sugar.  One of my worst enemies was sugar.  Not only was it slowly turning me into a diabetic, it was feeding the free radical cells within my body (all of our bodies honestly) that cause destruction (Study Shows Glucose Consumption Increases Production of Destructive Free Radicals, Lowers Level of Key Antioxidant).  I didn’t like how it made me feel the next day.  The sugar destroyed my psyche, created the next day gloomies, and really set of IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and would take 24 to 48 hours before I would feel normal again.  Just a couple of examples of small minute changes that had huge long-term impacts to my health, my wellbeing, and my success.

Yes. Success. The small changes that you make for your health can translate to other areas of our lives to help us be successful at any challenges we choose to take on. Even the choice to take on a challenge is a shift from thinking “I CAN’T” too “I CAN” and that folks is how it starts so #LoveYo-Self.

Healthy Self truly is HEAL THY SELF.
